ACROSS THE UNIVERSE - [film review]
What a great film! I was told by several friends to see it. Two were editors with entertainment magazines. Everyone equated the film with HAIR. When members of the Shoshonee Hair Tribe wanted to go, 20 of us went last week.
Julie Taymore and Elliot Goldenthall have delivered a wonderful film entertaining and appropriate. It is a message of Freedom, Peace and Love using music by the Beatles. Goldenthall has made a great score in support of Taymore’s superb, quirky direction. Yes it has the similar message to HAIR’s. I can’t really pin down a favorite scene so many are in contention. So that gives me an excuse to see it again and even buy the DVD when released.
In complete disclosure I confess that every Sunday from 10AM > 2PM PDT I listen to KCSN 88.5 in Northridge, CA presenting the Beatles. It can be found on the Internet when away from LA. MB
