One Response to “The Yellow Peril”

In China the largest human migration in history has begun. Over the next twelve years it is estimated that more than 300 million people - equivalent to the entire population of the USA - will move from China’s countryside to her cities. This requires a mamouth buiding operation and the Chinese are already consuming huge amounts of fuel and building materials. They have been responsible for half the increase in demand for metals in recent years.
China is planning 108 new airports in the next three and a half years and their electricity production is expected to increase by the size of the UK national grid every two years.
In the face of this, ecological campaigners are pissing in the wind. It is China (and India and the other rapidly devloping 3rd World nations) that should be the focus of the Planet savers, and this just might lead to some constructive dialogue, although these nations are just as likely to see such an initiative as interference.
