JP Briggs II, Ph.D., and Thomas D. Williams | Bush, Mideast Wars and End-Time Prophecy

This so real in reportage and really frightening in its implications. It is very difficult to believe this could really be happening in the world and we are the only nation deaf and blind to the tragedies which are about to occur due to this state religion dedicated to war. MB

LA Weekly - Sicko’s Bitter Pill - The Essential Online Resource for Los Angeles

Cara's guest, I went to the opening in LA. Great piece of propaganda for a good cause. Shave the facts if you will or lay on any critique about the film making: you will leave outraged and saddened to see another sign of our dwindling management and infrastructure depletion to service the deadly desires of the Merchants of War. See it by all means! MB

Another Summer of Love - New York Times

No matter how the establishment tries to quash it the hippie influence still comes back. Now more than ever, when our freedoms are under seige, the liberties expressed by the fashion of the young are a harbinger of the future. MB

The politics of plenty

Those of us from the Movement realize and accept that we lost out in Peace and Love due to some of the excesses we espoused. When the Yippies stole our stage and created the challenge which brought about the debacle at the 1968 Democratic we lost out. Fear of the anarchy viewed on TV gave us Richard Nixon as President. It has been downhill ever since then with the triumph of the conservative and neo-conservative position. Four decades have passed. We are at another threshold. 2008 is going to be more important than 1968. This article from the Economist (not a flaming liberal publication) presents a Libertarian position. It also posits the possibility of a third party that for the beleaguered middle class/ground would be a wonderful solution. MB I would like to quote a passage which defines the serious of the current situation: -- The Battle "There are two great powers and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit" "The Subtle Knife" by Philip Pullman

Israel’s wasted victory

This title is not enough. It is America's waste. It is the World's waste. Here is the kernel of disaster for the world. And how long has this sore festered? Decades both the Israeli and the Palestinian governments have used this situation for their advantages, not to the betterment of either peoples. It goes way beyond that; the Arab governments have not been anything but negative as to trying to settle the problem. The Zionist movement with its lobbies and media have not been positive. The real heavies, America and Russia could have, should have forced a settlement. In the late 50's I did a lot of work in the Middle East. I was basically a commercial man but my other agenda was at the behest of Jack Kennedy, friend and then Senator. He wanted information which our embassies (notoriously out of touch) did not supply him. Each trip I made carried a list of his questions to be de-briefed when back. It was a unique situation as I was working on the re-construction of the Hejaz RR (destroyed by Lawrence through the help of the Arabs during WWI). I was dealing with the Hashemite Kings, Feisel in Iraq and Hussein in Jordan. These friendships and access to the bazaars gave me access to a side rarely seen by most. I had a constant refrain in all reports oral and written, "The Palestinian question is the breeding ground for WWIII." In 50 years it has not changed and still we are not doing anything about it. Would it not be a great thing for the current summit going on in Germany if Bush and Putin looked into their souls and stopped the squabbles over a ridiculous "Star Wars". If they said, lets make peace happen in the Middle East. MB PS More on this in my website, there go to Secrets>Journal

America’s fear of China

Beware of the politicians and the armament suppliers. They both have many reasons to instill fear of China. Gives the former more control and for the latter more business. They both need bogeymen to keep the status quo-the continued pursuit of world hegemony. Forget living with our neighbors in a constantly shrinking world. The mantra is to dominate them. Sooner or later we need to learn how good it would be to treat all, large and small countries, as our peers. MB

Baghdad Embassy - Redux

Rumour has it and a few have emailed that the link is down. Reportedly the government ordered it be taken down. The American public cannot be trusted with such information for national security. Fortunately Tom Englelhardt, who supplied the original information, has been kind enough to forward another source. He sends us an additional example of his pursuit of giving us the truth. MB
