This is a chance for that very hippie philosophy to be reborn. That original hippie generation are the grays now. We are the grandparents that must help and guide this next generation to the value and importance of peace. In 2008 we must rise up again, having learned from our mistakes of the past. Older, wiser and still hopeful.

Historians observe that the life cycle of nations is approximately 2 centuries; from bondage to spiritual faith, from faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to complacency, from complacency to apathy then on to dependency and dependency back into bondage, (Alexander Tyler 1750)

Where are we in this cycle?

Asking the question of what is our biggest problem, is it ignorance or apathy facing our nation; I often hear a retort, “I don’t know & I don’t care” …..sooo many individuals I meet are more concerned about their retirement package & how much money they are making & the where they are vacationing next; for the average man/woman they are caught on the treadmill of survival; taxes & runaway inflation (infaltion that does not exist according to the statistics of CPI; do you know that the CPI does not include housing prices & unemployment does not count those who no longer receive benefits but are still unemployed).

For those who are not apathetic, remember striking one match…. can set a whole fire storm in motion.

Robert Boric was right when he said that “The only hope for America is a grass roots revival”….however I do fear that following after the Catholic type religions & other man made religion/mans twisting of the Word of God (whether it be Muslim, Jew, Born Again…or other, it will just become the Crusades all over again…..I suppose that if we unite under the directive of individual surrender to finding & doing Gods perfect Love we can rise above “religion” & be used for his purpose and directives.

How do we change the world when it doesn’t seem to matter whether we vote Democrat or Republican, when the WAR MONEY is supporting both sides and never looses the election?

Have we been brainwashed to think one or the other will be our savior?

Reading Michael Von’s citing of Alexander Tylers observation on the life cycle of a nation from bondage thru various stages and then back into bondage, I am reminded of the 70’s/80’s writer, Benjamin Benedict who at the begining of his book ‘Glue’ coined the
proposition that “There can be no freedom without a little bondage.” Mr Benedict was certainly being somewhat ‘tongue-in-cheek’ but one would have to think long and hard before rejecting the concept that bondage is in fact freedom’s fertilizer!
