Ernesto sent this and I give great thanks. It was so great to see Jack again and hear his voice. My, what a terrible change since then. And Bobby, he was our last hope. Someone has got to appear to make life more humane and pleasant. MPosted by Michael Butler, Friday, August 11, 2006
Who Killed The Electric Car?
I saw this movie last Friday and went away really upset. My first reaction was to swear to never buy another car from General Motors. My second reaction was realizing that GM will probably not last much longer anyway. What a tragedy for GM and us that they didn't have the forsight nor the guts to keep the program going. As you will see from the film. And I do hope you see it. You will realize that it was not only GM but oil companies, and many others, not to dismiss the politicians who caved in or in reality probably were bought in to kill this chance for us not to be "hooked on oil" MBPosted by Michael Butler, Sunday, August 6, 2006
Our Business Is War
This article by Pitt, "Banking on War" is just one of an increasing number of writings currently appearing about our world lead as Merchants of Death. In 1970 I made my final speech as Chancellor of The Lincoln Academy about the growth of the American armaments industry. A lot good it did. At the next convocation the speaker was General Westmoreland. So I was no more successfull than Dwight Eisenhower who when retiring as President of the United States warned the nation about the military industrial establishment. I just saw "Why We Fight" a documentory by Eugene Jarecki which begins with the Eisenhower speech. Let us remember this from a five star general. If you have NetFlix, or something similar, you can rent it. The film will really shake you up. Your children and grandchildren should see it. Young people should see it. They are the ones who will be fighting these wars. All the pontificating and concern for the multitude of problems facing the world are minor compared to the appaling effect of the use of these weapons. War only profits the Merchants of Death and the politicians who are tied to them. Michael ButlerPosted by Michael Butler, Friday, August 4, 2006
From My Lebanese Friend
I told Tony, we should get a farm. For those of you who have not had the fortune to have been in Lebanon. Take my word for it being one of the world's most beautiful countries and the people are something even more lovely. Unfortunately almost all of my friends there have been assassinated.
