I find this a very insightful article, especially as the current changes occuring within my own life are focusing my opinions about the values I was brought up within, and the values I am now embracing, and the vast incongruence between the two. My Fiancee lives within a very bohemian community in Norfolk. Her parents, radical leftists who, disillusioned by the lost opportunities for societal revolution in the late sixties, moved out of their respective towns in the south of England, for the welsh mountains where they would endeavour to live the dream of self sufficiency, self sacrificing social work, living off the land in a thinly spread smattering of a community. In the meantime I came from a predominantly right wing, capitalist/ materialist driven family, where the focus lay on the right schools, the right people i.e social status, the RIGHT full stop. Now that I have fallen in love with a woman from such a very different background, it has been an extraordinary baptism of discovery, in which I have had to find out what my values actually are, and the most shocking realisation I intially faced was the apathy towards any political opinions or leanings that I had. ( A symptom I believe of growing up in a 'capitalist' home, as it makes it hard to feel for the issues in society that you are not affected by) So to be in a relationship with someone, where frequently during conversations different political opinions rear up and clash, I have discovered where my own truths really lie. As you said recently Michael, that you believe 2008 will be similar to 1968, I hope we can move ahead in a progressive, non violent, environmentally conscious way, and truely create the opportunity for change that was lost the first time round.

Proud to be a '60's Flower Child, came of age in that decade, dropped in, ran out, kept eyes and heart open; still proud to be an FCC (Flower Child Child Convivant!) and trust the values of peace, harmony, love and truth prevail into infinity and beyond. Buzz Lightyear should be pres!

Like in the movie "Matrix", we really do have to choose either the "Red" or "Blue" pill, "to be or not to be, that is the question"

I think it is most important to look at all sides of the issues, and with poloroide spiritual glasses we will see the golden thread of truth in either sides presentations & positions, I do not support one side or the other as all of mans philosophies & governments are flawed, the best I can do is live the life of Gods will, which can be found for the one who seeks, asks and knocks on Hashems/Gods door. Seeking perfect Love.
