I just wanted to give you a “heads up” about an excellent tribe that is currently performing HAiR in Hollywood, California. Their run is quite short, only playing through next Sunday, and I highly recommend the show. Just about everything that the touring production got so dreadfully wrong the Daffodil tribe gets so right … from the 60’s Program design to the costuming and set design to the tribe truly “grocking” the message!
You should be aware that this is a 99-seat house, and that there is no band on stage nor credited. Their program seems to imply that they have a live band being “piped in” from some other location, but I am sure that the music is pre-recorded. This is the only major fault that I find with this production, and, on the bright side, none of the tribe utilizes microphones, a fact which contributes greatly to the intelligibility and immediacy of the songs and dialog.
I hope that other cybertribe members get to see this production, and that we can start a discussion comparing the various HAiR productions that we have seen.
