Jesus Christ, the prince of peace – from Pat Hunter

Michael, Your Easter greeting caused me to think of the “Prince of Peace”. I wondered how that title came to be. The world is so often “at war”. I was also looking at definitions of “war”. One said “peace” was the absence of war. The article at this link says there was not a Hebrew word for peace. The closest word with such a meaning was “shalom”. You may find this interesting. Didn’t George W. Bush say we needed to make war to have peace? It seems peace has been a very fragile and fleeting thing in the history of man. With all the violent and war filled movies, video games, and sports it is as though we must be in a constant state of training for the inevitable. The world is full of our enemies; and so our own neighborhoods. Our leaders speak of “endless” war. Just as Orwell wrote. The peaceniks are held out as naïve sissies that are the next thing to traitors. Real men welcome war. What a world! Peace, Pat
