Wikileaks Banned From UN Conference on Wikileaks

headline pretty much speaks for itself ..
Mr. Assange said that UNESCO had "made itself an international human rights joke. To use ‘freedom of expression’ to censor WikiLeaks from a conference about WikiLeaks is an Orwellian absurdity beyond words. This is an intolerable abuse of UNESCO's Constitution. It's time to occupy UNESCO" .. In a statement posted on its website, WikiLeaks said the conference was packed with "who’s who" of the websites opponents and critics "no matter how insignificant or poorly informed."

Phil Rockstroh: Love, Work, and Dissent in a Time of Hazmat Suits and Political Hypochondria

Rockstroh ..
authoritarian personality types are obsessed with the fantasy of scouring (a panopticon/predator drone mode of mind) life of all disorder. Not only making the trains run on time but demanding that the passengers on said trains psyches be cleansed of impure thoughts…sanitized for their protection, then covered in a sort of societal prophylactic plastic to safeguard the principles of societal propriety--in short, have the populace rendered Body Bag People. Better this, they are convinced, than allow the person-to-person contagion of dissent to spread. Perhaps, this provides a clue as to why the enforcers of our fear-driven, ruthless authoritarian power elite go so far as to don Hazmat suits when attacking and dismantling Occupy sites

At Hearing on “Fracking,” Capitol Police Arrest Director of “Gasland”

Sari Gelzer at Truthout ..
On Wednesday, House Republicans ordered Capitol police to arrest Josh Fox, director of the Academy Award-nominated documentary "Gasland," along with his crew. The group was attempting to film a meeting of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Environment that was to discuss hydraulic fracturing, also known as "fracking" .. Fox faces a court hearing on February 15 on charges of "unlawful entry." As an independent filmmaker, Fox called on congress to make all meetings and hearings accessible to independent journalists. "The truth that fracking contaminates groundwater is out, and no amount of intimidation tactics - either outright challenges to science or the arrest of journalists - will put the genie back in the bottle," he stated.
