The Afghan situation is far too complex and nuanced for the average voters in NATO countries with their limited attention spans and/or access to serious news either to understand or to see through (if seeing it through is really the answer). There has been endless chopping and changing and handwringing by western politicians and the Afghans seem to be completely bewildered.
