It is difficult, I can see that. Do you say, ‘don’t have a swimming pool’, or ‘only use your washing machine once a week’, ‘don’t take a bath every day’, ‘make your toilet flush with less water, and only flush it after a number two.’? In parts of the world they already do these things and more.
I know a lady who lived in the US Virgin Islands, where they exist on the rainfall caught in their roof tanks. She could teach you water conservancy, Big Time!
Incidentaly, I had a friend from AZ over to lunch this weekend, and asked him how Pheonix can be so cavalier with it’s expansion plans and water use. He explained to me that they actually have a water surplus from the Colorado River that presently goes to CA. Should things get tight, they will simply stop supplying CA.
Last weeks article on the forthcoming water shortage in Vegas and Phoenix failed to mention this. seems those desert rats may know a thing or two, although in the long term this passing the buck will not be an answer.
