Robert Parry is right that right wing elites have pressed a state’s rights small government agenda. It is effective and it will increase their control over governments at all levels.
What Parry fails to mention is that this is just the current tactic. Once power is achieved, an even more powerful central government will get into full swing. We can see these trends even in the current battles. In Bush v. Gore the Supreme Court ran roughshod over the Florida Supreme Court to put their man in power. In the abortion wars the government will control the lives of women in an ever more invasive way.
The elites want all the power all the time.
Under Reagan and Bush II the national government increased in size, as did the budgets. Nonsense about the “Founders” is just a temporary ploy.
