“…The world’s worst nuclear accident occurred at Chernobyl, in what is now Ukraine, on Saturday, April 26, 1986, during a routine system test that went wrong. Several unexplained and sudden power surges ruptured the containment vessels and led to multiple devastating explosions. The radioactive plume drifted over the Soviet Union and Europe. Ultimately, more than 350,000 people were relocated….”
