Cool headed, warm hearted economics

Peter Orszag is a Senior Fellow and Director of The Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution. In this Boston Globe Sunday editorial, he takes on the current state of economic instability in the US, and he urges the incoming Democratic Congress to take on the key issues systematically and analytically, emphasizing what most Americans need to weather the bad conditions.
NB, though: most Power Politicians do not routinely read The Boston Globe, unless something extraordinary circulates their way via their peers. That’s a shame, because the Globe is owned by the New York Times company, and its essays are chosen with similar emphasis on high quality writing by genuine experts. Without stealing the writer’s thunder too much, here is a wee quote to give you a feel for what follows:
