MUST READ: Move over, Hoover

By Douglas Brinkley | Sunday, December 3, 2006 | The Washington Post

Douglas Brinkley is a Professor of History at Tulane University and Director of The Roosevelt Center there. He is a card-carrying, hard-core, all-the-right-stuff presidential historian whose writing is never, ever, EVER dull.

This one is one of his best essays. He places George W. Bush among the Worst Presidents Ever, and makes oodles of fascinating connections between W’s Most Important Moments and the landmark crises of past Presidents. That is, in this essay, Brinkley takes on the ambitious goal of predicting The Decider’s dubious place in presidential history and connecting the present to the past.

History fans and those who love politics owe it to themselves to make time for this one. In My Humble Opinion, it is one of the Five Best Articles we have EVER shared on the MB-CIVIC Blog since this wonderful collaboration started. A true ‘MUST READ’…BS
