MUST READ: The Religious Divide

By Cathy Young | Monday, November 20, 2006 | The Boston Globe

In this superb essay, Cathy Young, an editor at Reason magazine and occasional Boston Globe contributor, considers and dissects the complex interplay between ‘Traditionalists’ and ‘secular-Progressives’ in American culture and history and politics – a collision of two world views that is far more complex than a simple division between those who believe and those who do not. I will not steal her thunder, except to say that we should all read and ponder this one, particularly as we move into Thanksgiving week. I welcome your comments…BS

Super-excellent article! This is a woman who truly “gets” what is actually occurring, and has expressed that in a thoughtful, neutral and even-handed fashion.

The only thing she doesn’t address is ways in which the current situation can be changed. Perhaps the article didn’t give her space to do so. But I hope she does a follow-up on it.

    Peace.

I would love to see her opinion as to how this problem can be solved.
I feel the seperation of church and state is paramount tp protect both religion and secularism.
