Professor Lawrence Pintak is the Director of the Adham Center for Electronic Journalism at The American University in Cairo, where he is also a full Professor in the Department of Journalism. He has written a number of books on the role of the press in influencing both popular opinion and government policies, both in his native land and in his adopted one, smack in the center of the Middle East. He is in the rare and remarkable position of being a top-notch US scholar and writer who actually lives in the Muslim world. I was lucky enough to hear him speak at Penn a few years ago, and he slayed me. He is, without exaggeration, a star. His most recent book is “Reflections in a Bloodshot Lens: America, Islam & the War of Ideas.” …BS
