The Cheney Riddle

By Robert Kuttner | Saturday, November 18, 2006 | The Boston Globe

Robert Kuttner is the editor of The American Prospect and a political analyst for The Boston Globe (which is owned by The New York Times Company). Since the moment when his friend and fellow in-fighter Donald Rumsfeld was fired after the recent midterm election, Cheney has been notably absent from the public eye. Before we conclude that he too has taken a large demotion as the unprecedented dominant power and Alpha Dog over the President, Kuttner reminds us of Cheney’s skill at placing allies throughout the government and exerting influence behind closed doors. He portrays as frankly Oedipal W’s relationship with Bush I The Father, and he paints the coming of Dear Old Dad’s Secretary of State and family hit man James Baker as a second major power source in Washington. An excellent analysis with many surprising revelations, most of which are sure to induce tension headaches and grumbling guts in the concerned reader…BS

Good insight to the latest intercine mess in our government. For me the only saving of Bush from impeachment is that we could wind up with Cheney. MB
