It’s Tony Blair’s time to shine in Iraq

In Britain, the Iraq War and Blair’s capitulation to Bush Administration demands are sources of vehement public outcry and mounting anti-Americanism. Blair’s “revised” views on Iraq, favoring negotiations with Syria and Iran, are strikingly similar to those of the Iraq Study Group (a/k/a the Baker Commission), but independently developed. Blair, like Bush, is a Lame Duck leader, but a real leader nonetheless, with powers of persuasion far superior to Bush’s. Unlike James Baker and the ‘Washington Wise Men’ of the Iraq Study Group, Blair earned his position by election. His view truthfully seems like the only intelligent way for both the UK and the US to feel our way out of the dark pit where both countries are currently trapped. In the thrilling words of Jack Kennedy:
“Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate.” Hear, hear…BS
