NYT Op-Ed (Herbert): Shouting Over the Din

Herbert takes on all the dangerous vagaries of voting – “Hanging chads. Eight- and nine-hour waits in the rain. Votes lost. Votes never counter. Electronic voting machines vulnerable to all types of mischief, proliferating without the protective shadow of a paper trail” – and tells of a Congresswoman who went to vote, and was told that her Congressional identification card was not good enough – because although it had her picture, it did not have an expiration date!
