An excellent review of the current state of the alliance between the Neocons and conservative Christioans. The centerpiece is a story you may have heard about if you listen to NPR’s ‘Fresh Air’ oe watch ’60 Minutes’. David Kuo, previously Assistant Director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, has just published a fascinating book, “Tempting Faith,” in which he recalls how the stars in the religious right’s firmament were described by White House honchos as “nuts”, among other insulting labels, behind their backs by the true neocons. He realized to his horror that the office he worked for did MUCH more for politics than for poverty, and that evangelical “values voters” were valued only for their votes. This book should be reviewed by iine of us for the Book Reviews section of this blog. It sounds like a ripping good read…BS
