Excellent Post coverage of the bipartisan Senate Armed Services committee initative to square interrogation policies with the military justice system, developed out of the painful experiences of World War II. A fair and just system that the administration has been ignoring under the pretext that “enemy coombatants” are not POW’s since they do not represent a sovereign nation. The vote sets up a legislative showdown on an issue that GOP strategists had hoped would unite their party and serve as a cudgel against Democrats in the Nov. 7 elections. Under McCain, with the help of veterans John Warner and Lindsey Graham, the democratic members voted in a block against the Administration’s proposal. A story worth watching closely…BS
