Stop Killing Tibetans!
Take action to condemn China’s brutal killing of Pema Tsepak, a 24-year old Tibetan man from Chamdo, eastern Tibet. On January 20th, he and two other Tibetans were arrested after they staged a peaceful protest with Tibetan flags. Pema Tsepak died two days later from injuries he sustained from being beaten and tortured while in detention.
Send a letter to Chinese authorities expressing your outrage and demand the immediate release of those Tibetans arrested in Chamdo.
Tell me more (See below, my note)Â
Dear [ Decision Maker ],
(Edit Letter Below)
I am outraged to learn that on January 23, Pema Tsepak, a 24-year old Tibetan man from Tsawa Zogang District, Chamdo County, Kham (Ch: Tibetan Autonomous Region) died from injuries he sustained after being beaten and tortured by Chinese police. I join people worldwide condemning this act of brutality and calling for an immediate end to China’s military crackdown in Tibet.
I am also gravely concerned about the well-being of Thinley Ngodup (age 24), and Buyang Dargye (age 23) who were arrested with Pema Tsepak on January 20th and Norbu Tashi (age 34) who was arrested one day later. I understand that all three remain in custody and may be in critical condition. They must be immediately released and given access to proper medical care.
Since March of last year, Chinese authorities have killed more than two hundred Tibetans, over a thousand remain missing or in prison where they are likely being tortured and beaten. This whole-scale assault against the Tibetan people must end.
The global community has been clear in its support for the Tibetan people and its desire to see an end to China’s occupation of Tibet. Your government stands on the wrong side of history. In order to be recognized as a leader on the global stage, China must immediately end its atrocities in Tibet.
I will continue to monitor this situation closely and will notify my elected representative about Pema Tsepak’s case and the ongoing abuses your government commits against Tibetans inside Tibet.
Sincerely,
