It says it was posted on March 20th 2008. I presume that this is a typo and should be March 2nd.
As you would expect from Jan Wenner, it is well researched and very well written. Baracks autobiography is something that I did not know about, for instance. Jan is very much a Barack fan.
The big question is, whether he is right to conclude that Barack is indeed that much of a different article to Hillary?
The other big question is should Barack get elected will the political machine allow him to get anything done?
Kennedy (who Jan mentions in the same breath as Barack) had a huge amount of political influence through his father and the family network. Carter did not, and as far as I know, Barack does not. Inspiring words and a majestic bearing (Jan’s words) might get him there, but that is not enough. He has to actually make the changes he talks about so eloquently.
And the final big question is whether he can stand up to the Republican barrage? This is an entirely different proposition to the patty-cake game he is playing with Hillary.
It could be a case of ‘too much, too soon’ or it could be ‘just what’s needed, just in time.’
I have read that Barack was originally looking at 2012 as the time to make his play.
That would have seemed better to me, but it is not what has happened and you have to take your chances when they come.

One should not forget hope. A change is needed. The alternatives are more of the same.
