Tha fact remains that you, the American public voted the 545 people in, and it seems you are even happy to vote in Presidential candidates with precious little knowledge of their policies, as has been pointed out in many of the posted articles over the last few days.

Well, you gets what you pays for, as the saying goes. Perhaps if you insisted on hearing detailed policies from your candidates, you would have something to hold them to.
Politicians will always be economic with the truth, but they can be held to account if there is something for them to be accountable for.
