Nemesis for Murdoch ?
A courageous article by Philip Stevens in today’s FT. For years politicians and journalists in the UK and US have been so fearful of retribution from News International that they have courted Murdoch and allowed the likes of Fox News and the News of the World to inflame the lowest human instincts – xenophobia, prurience, hypocrisy, sanctimoniousness, to name but a few, spring to mind. Finally, the telephone hacking revelations in the UK have aroused such public revulsion that Murdoch is on the back foot and where people are no longer fearful his empire loses its power. I am talking about the UK of course. Do any of you see any chance that anyone in the US is yet prepared to take on News Int.?
