Worlds at War: The 2,500-Year Struggle Between East and West By Anthony Pagden is the book being reviewed in this article. Never is Alexander The Great mentioned, which could be the fault of the review or the book itself.
Posted on 22-Mar-08 at 3:33 am | PermalinkI can see that Alexander does not quite fit in with the author’s scheme, but he can hardly have left such a figure out.
Alexander defeated the old eastern enemy and then took up it’s culture. There is a lesson to be had here, not just about East and West, but about the cultural evolution that must take place within all of us, if we are to survive.
