    Well, I’m not sure this will make much difference this time around. Yes, he will siphon a few votes, probably from both sides, though perhaps slightly more from the Dems.

    However, Nader is an old monomaniac, and most people have gotten wise to his johnny-one-note routine and election megalomania. As well, the general interest (and arguably even excitement) over having the first women or first black president is far too great (too say nothing of Obamamania).

    For all these reasons, I doubt Nader will have any substantive effect on the elections.

    It seems that the first part of that statement is far from true, but the second part certainly is.
    If Nader can force the other candidates to be more specific in terms of ‘issues’, he might serve a purpose, otherwise I have to agree with Ian, he is unlikely to influence the outcome.
