    On a related, but different topic, the ‘Fair Trade’ movement seems to be meeting with surprising sucess. I don’t know if you hear much about it in The States, but it guarantees minimum wage for workers in Third World countries, where their goods end up on our shelves. Only by adhering to ‘Fair Trade’standards can retailers afix a ‘fair trade’ label to their goods.

    The opposition to NAFTA in particular and “Free Trade” is becoming stronger. Many jobs lost in the USA. Mexican peons growing corn a staple in their diets are being wiped out by US agri giants subsidized by US. The entire globalization program is under great criticism in US and many developing countries. It is considered not a level playing field.
    Perhaps the Brits are handling it different.MB
