“Who the hell is shooting at us?” is the soldier’s scream at the start of this powerful and very bleak essay. Leaving US soldiers in the deathtrap of Iraq is true abandonment. It is not true that the growing Congressional movement to cut off funding for the Iraq War would harm our soldiers and sailors. To the contrary: it would bring them home from an unwinnable, hopeless, deadly mess…BS
