WOW: The continuing ‘danger’ of King

By Derrick Z. Jackson | Saturday, November 25, 2006 | The Boston Globe

Derrick Jackson interviews Clayborne Carson, who is on a worldwide lecture tour, discussing Dr. King’s collected papers. The current excitement is about the soon-to-be-published sixth volume, covering the 1940’s, when King was in divinity school.

That’s long before the Vietnam War, and long before King’s encounter with Ghandi. Nevertheless, King was thinking globally at that point, about world peace; the politics of class and have/have-not economics; about American imperialism and the abuse of military power; about the hypocrisy of adamant patriotism; and – most surprisingly to me – about what King called “Un-Christian Christians” – who sound eerily like the right wing neocon Bible thumpers of today. I welcome your comments…BS

King was a Socialist .. and that was what he was finally talking about in 1968, Socialism … interesting that Jackson just doesn’t come out and say that.

Speaking of Socialists – how bout the new candidate in France, Ségolène Royal
