The Minimum Necessary

Senator Joe Biden (Democrat from Delaware) is now the senior Democratic Party member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Unlike the Baker Commission, he is one of a select few people we have actually ELECTED to make diplomatic and war policy for our country. In January 2007, he will become the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, a position of power second only to the Secretary of State in determining US policy. More importantly, he will be firmly in control of the bills that get considered in hearings (a first step to bringing bills to Congress for consideration as laws).
