Spy Agencies Say Iraq War Hurting U. S. Terror Fight

The big news today is something that may seem obvious, since many of us on the blog were saying back in 2002 that invading Iraq would empower and encourage and spread geographically militant Islamic terrorism around the world. But it really means something when all 16 US Securiy agencies (some of which compete against each other aggressively, with much aspersion) agree that the Iraq war has been spectacularly counter-productive. Worse still, as a direct result, terrorist cells have metastasized like cancer around the world – no longer under the central command of al Qaeda, but inspired by its principles and methods.
