This all is a matter of opinion just like any decision Gibby....

I think HAiR should be done in its original version as most people here.... but too each its own.

peace,
barbara

I've tried very much to support Jim when he decided that the work needed changes. If that was what
he felt was necessary, then I would be glad to see it through and tell him whether it was the
right or wrong thing. I was the one who told him that the Gate Theatre modernization in London was
a serious mistake rather than a step in the right direction, based on what I saw, and he told me
it only confirmed his suspicions. Well, he can't say he has suspicions now, the way he's changed
the work.

I don't understand how this could happen. The only way would be for someone to lay all the cards
on the table here. I'm a growing director; I've staged several productions in the Southern New
England area since you all last heard from me, and the next production I want to do is HAIR.

The company I work with is very willing to do it, and they've already begun sending feelers to
Tams-Witmark. But I can't do it without help, and I can't do it without knowing that it's done
right. I know for certain that the 1995 script can't be right, because I've heard complaints of
how vague the script is.

I need your help. And I need a knowledge of the background of the scripts, and what the version is
that everyone considers definitive. And to do that, I need to see some material. I am quite
willing to work on everyone's terms if I want to do HAIR right, but I have to see the material to
do it.

So I'm going to ask, like I've asked many times before, but this time more maturely, and with a
clear head, and no nefarious intentions that I know of: Nina, I'd like to make an appointment with
you to view the script material you have in the Archives. I love HAIR, and I would not do any
wrong to it if I knew in my heart that a certain version is the right direction.

Please help me, someone, anyone.
