 I remember Hurricane Carol growing up in Waltham Mass. in 1954.  I was 7 . When the eye crossed overhead my mother took us 4 kids outside and I will never forget there was devastation up & down the steet but the the sun was out and the wind was calm. But you could hear the wind spinning like a fright train coming back at us from the other sde, We scurried back in the house & waited out the storm. :)

  We had a big one in Clearwater when I was about 10 or 11, in the early 1960s. We evacuated Clearwater Beach, where we lived.  When we returned, after the hurricane, some of our living room furniture was in the back yard!

Right now it is approx. 200 miles due South of Tampa Bay where I live, They
expect it to hit the Tampa Bay area between area 6 & 8pm tonight full force
with winds at least 120 mph.
