E-Mail ThisThere is a frightening trend of leaders who also own all or most of the media in their localities/countries. Berlusconi is one - he owns about 75% of all the major media outlets (print, TV, etc.) in Italy. Similarly, Putin now owns or controls about 85% of all the major media in Russia. Here in the U.S., Bush & Co. may not own most major media, but they might as well, given how successfully they have "controlled" most of it by fear, lack of access, dissembling, spin, etc.

And, of course, these are all "First World" countries, with rules of law, legislatures/parliaments, freedom, etc.

Peace.

Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has thrown himself with his usual energy into an unusual media blitz: a round-the-clock hard sell to Italian voters.

Imagine Me & You in select theaters January 27th

IMAGINE ME & YOU begins as a young bride discovers love at first sight on the day of her wedding . . . but not with the groom. A refreshingly unconventional and witty comedy about looking at love a little differently, starring Piper Perabo, Lena Headey, and Matthew Goode.
