[Mb-civic] Rep. Waters on Bush's Impeachable Offenses

Congresswoman Maxine Waters Says Bush's Spying Is Impeachable Offense

Rep. Waters said of Bush, prior to the State of the Union: "His message tonight will not deal honestly with the mistakes that he's made. And I believe that the latest revelations about him and his spying on American citizens - no matter how he tries to frame it - are impeachable offenses. I believe that this president is not only spying on American citizens in the way that he's describing it, but to indicate in any shape form or fashion that he's been authorized by Congress to do it on the vote that was taken after 9-11 is plain dishonest. And further to try to imply that he's supported by the Constitution of the United States is even more dishonest. And so, I think that this issue that he's been caught red-handed on is really typical of who he is, how he handles this presidency, and what his leadership is all about: spying and lying. And I think it is important for us to understand that all of the other issues that we're going to talk about today - and particularly the war i
n Iraq - will continue to exemplify how he has lied and misled the American public."

LET'S PUT THE NEW "WHITE HOUSE MEMO" INTO THE MEDIA

Last year, your efforts forced the Downing Street Memos into the U.S. media. Can you do the same with the new "White House Memo"?

This memo - reported by British scholar Phillipe Sands in his book "Lawless World" - is yet another smoking gun exposing pre-war lies. It reveals that Bush and Blair agreed on war in January 2003 - not March 2003, as they insist. It also reveals they knew there was no legitimate case for war, that Bush was hoping to assassinate Saddam Hussein, and that Bush was so desperate to provoke a war that he even proposed painting US planes to look like UN planes and flying them low over Iraq in hopes of getting shot at - which he thought would be grounds for war.

The international media has covered this story extensively. In the U.S., the AP has sent out two articles, but few papers have printed them.

Is Karl Rove Planning a Terror Attack on the Super Bowl?

Bob Fertik asks, "is Karl Rove planning a terrorist attack during the Super Bowl, in order to set the stage for building towards war with Iran over the coming year?"

Let's pray he isn't planning such an attack, but there are plenty of reasons to fear that he might be - starting with Bush's dismal polls, bottomless Republican scandals, serious Senate hearings on NSA wiretapping, November's Congressional elections, and of course all of the Iraq War provocations and lies.
