I think Iranians have not forgotten 1953. Have you read the book "All
the Shah's Men" by NY Time journalist Stephen Kinzer? In 1953 the
CIA send Kermit Roosevelt (Teddy's grandson) to successfully
engineer a coup against Iran's democratically elected government in
the person of Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh, who was
determined that Iran's oil wealth would be used to benefit Iranians.
The coup brought back the Shah of Iran, who co-operated fully with
British and AMerican oil companies and ruled Iran with a ruthless iron
fist for 25 years....resulting in the 1979 Iranian fundamentalist
revolution, and helping lay the foundation (along with the CIA's
recruitment of Osama and thousands of other fundamentalists for a
holy war against the Soviets in Afghanistan) for the events of
September 11. Americans have forgotten 1953, but the folks in Iran
do remember...

movie, Isreal's airforce, knocked out the nuclear reactor they were
building...
