I'm not a fan of Chris Rock. Like Dennis Miller, his humour is not to my taste.

Award shows are not my interest (too many anyway), but the Oscars are the Oscars, it's an institution, flamboyant as it may be.

Mr Rock has the opportunity as a professional to rise to the occasion and have fun, or he can reduce it a marketing gig to draw people/eyes who what to watch a potential train wreck. When they/ award givers say that there are billion viewers, they are wrong, it is usually 70 or 80 million if.
The Academies are not as big as Americans think they are, no award shows are, they are mostly filler.
The Grammies were 3rd place in the ratings last Sunday..... go figure.

The Academy has acknowledged Mr Rocks dissing of the Oscars as a fashion show for gays only as a fun thing. I find that humour off.......

Any way, the point being made is about a culture, a reach for numbers/eyes over content. I will not be watching because of Mr Rock, I will pull up the winners on the internet to see if any good films win anything out of curiosity.

I would rather see Mr Bill Crosby, Mr Robin Williams or Mr Jon Stewart host and have sophisticated fun than Mr Chris Rock who's whole gig is about offending people.
